All our bags our packed, we’ve kissed our parents good bye, and we’re on our way to PASSPORTkids! camp in Crossville, TN. In our group we have 23 amazing 3rd-6th graders and 3 very brave chaperones. For those of you that don’t know, PASSPORTkids! camp is a missions based camp that gives children an opportunity to learn about God, and see how others around the world are sharing God’s love. (Check out their website at www.passportcamps.com)
This week our camp theme is Treasure: ask.seek.knock. The kids will be looking at the verse Matthew 7:7, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door with be opened to you.” (TNIV) The kids will discover that God is the ultimate treasure in our lives and that they can be a part of God’s kingdom here on Earth.
Last night in our pre camp devotion at the church, we talked about how we have many different treasures in our life. The kids identified things like friends, pets, toys, hobbies, and family members being treasures in their life. We talked about how sometimes we put these other treasurers before the one ultimate treasure in our life: God. We each made a goal of how we want to improve our relationship with God this week so we can make God our top treasure. Pray for us this week as we learn more about God, fellowship with others, meet new friends at, and experience new things!
