Camp Day 3: Out of Bounds

Today's key word is "out of bounds." God calls us to be a part of the Kingdom, tagging others with God's love. In order for us to do this we have to go out of bounds, out of our home base, to be able to reach others.

During Jesus' ministry here on Earth, he was constantly stepping out of bounds, going away from his comfort zone to talk to the least of these. Jesus hung out with the outcasts, those rejected by society, and the broken. Jesus sought to travel to places that had not heard about God.

It might have been tough for Jesus to step out from his home base, but he had the disciples with him to help. We also have to learn to do the same.

When we have Christ as our foundation, and our church as home base, then we can be equipped to go out of bounds to share God's love and tag others.

Day 2

Day 2 of camp has been another success. After worship tonight, campers had the chance to experience what a Ukraine market would be like. They had fun going on a scavenger hunt as the found clues that explained part of the Ukrainian culture.

The kids have showered, some bedtime devotions, and are now snoring away in bed. Enjoy these few pics from tonight. I'll post the slide show video in the morning.

PASSPORTkids Day 2 so far...

Day 2 of camp is off to a great start. The kids, surprisingly, slept well last night, and were up bright and early this morning ready for the first full day of camp.

Today the key word is "home base." Each of us live in a home. Our homes have to have a strong foundation in order to support the house, the furniture, and even the people in it. Homes are also a place we go to in order to find rest and be re-energized for the next day. In morning devotions the kids began to discover that they need to have a strong foundation to stand on in life; Jesus. They also need a "home base" that can encourage them, cheer them on, and be a place to return to.

To give you a brief glimpse into the schedule of camp, I have listed today's schedule of activities. Pray for us as we do each activity today. Pray that the kids learn to have Jesus as their foundation. Pray we remember to treat others with love.

Camp Update: Tag! You're It!

Each year at PASSPORTkids! camp we have a theme that all of our Bible studies center around. This year our theme is "Tag! You're it!" When kids play the game of tag at camp they run around tagging other kids, passing the power of being the "it" person. Sometimes this is uncomfortable for kids. They have to go up to kids they don't know very well and tag them.

We are called by God to take part in the ongoing work of the Kingdom, which means looking beyond our comfort zone and sharing Christ’s love with everyone. All are invited to get in the game! In some ways, this year’s theme is about evangelism - not the “hand-out-tracts, guilt- twisting” kind, but the “love like Jesus in everything you do” kind. We mean the “reach out and build relationships” kind, and the “don’t be ashamed to share your faith” kind. Built into this emphasis is the importance of living according to the teachings of Jesus so that God’s light can shine in us. Only when we are living in God’s Kingdom can we invite others to join us.

Last night in worship our key word was "chase." After worship, during our worship response time with our church group, we discussed how God is chasing us to be a part of God's Kingdom. That God desires to have a close relationship with us, and no matter how what we do God will always chase after and seek us. We also talked about how God wants to chase after other, just like in the game of tag, seeking people out to share the love of Christ.

During this discussion one our our campers pointed out that sometimes when you share God's love with someone, they don't accept it and believe in God right away. The kids are discovering that sharing God's love isn't just about telling someone about your faith, but it's about building relationships with other people.

Continue to pray for us as we learn, bond, and have fun!

And the construction begins!

A few weeks ago our church approved renovation plans for our Children's Ministry space. The intent of the Children's Ministry Renovation is to create a space that is inviting, welcoming, age appropriate for all our children (birth - 4th grade), and a place where all of our children's programs can be in.

The Children's Ministry Renovation is to be completed in several phases. Phase 1 of the renovation is to create a themed space in the hallways that is exciting, welcoming, and teaches our children about God. Our Children's Ministry space will have two themes: Kids Quest Creation Zone and Kids Quest Downtown. In Kids Quest Creation Zone our younger children will see trees, flowers, clouds, butterflies, ladybugs, land animals, and sea creatures - - all the things that God created! Here kids will learn that God created the world & God created me; God loves the world and God loves me!

In Kids Quest Downtown our older children will see that they are a part of a community. Christ calls us to not only follow him, but to also be a part of our faith community so we can share Christ's love to the world around us! Kids Quest Downtown will show the kids that they are a part of God's community and play a special role in that community.

Phase 1 of the renovation began today! It was exciting seeing the construction team prep the walls to be ready for mural painting that will happen in the weeks to come. Below are a few pictures of the construction happening!
